Rianda and her husband are the owners of one of our favourite venues in Paarl and we were called upon to help her create a special celebration for her 45th birthday. Her favourite guilty pleasure is Moët Champagne, so we built the entire morning around this theme. It was to be a morning function with a “high tea” feel (but with a fully stocked champagne bar instead of tea – our kind of party!).
The ladies arrived shortly after dropping their kids off at school and stayed until it was time to pick them up again. They were treated to delicious savoury bites and snacks and a cake table heavy laden with the most decadent treats. The champagne and cocktails flowed along with the easy conversation, but because of the weather, we had to get in a coffee bar to fight off the chills of early Spring.
The hostess wanted to impart something of herself to each of the guests and they were given a gift of macaroons and a bookmark printed with a personal note and the prayer of St Francis of Assisi to take home with them. The morning was spent in cheerful companionship and was a truly a glorious celebration of life, lived in all its moments.
