Monica & Brett: Zevenwacht, Cape Town

Brett and his beautiful Romanian bride, Monica, have a bit of history with Zevenwacht and so they decided to get married on the rolling lawns in front of the lake and party till the early hours in the venue very reminiscent of a bush lodge. They wanted an intimate celebration that made their guests (who came from far and wide) feel at home, like they were having a dinner party at someone’s house.

Being world travellers, they added a lot of sentiment to the wedding with small details such as the table names (with stories of their travels) and edible candles that brought back memories of their first date in London.

Everything was bright and colourful, but very down to earth. Guests were treated to a traditional South African Spit Braai for dinner and even the centre pieces on the tables were fresh, seasonal vegetables.

The whole day was built around their desire to spend as much time with their guests as possible, relaxing in the beautiful surrounds and enjoying every moment of their first day as a married couple. (As part of a Romanian wedding tradition, the groom was even tricked into buying back his bride from a rogue band of kidnappers/ friends and had to part with a bottle of very expensive whiskey in order to get her back.) In the end, all was well that ended well and the couple, once reunited, danced the night away.
