Vimal & Aalia: The Beautiful Cavalli Estate, Stellenbosch

Vimal and Aalia met in Tanzania where they both work. A lovely, energetic and fun couple, they chose Cavalli Estate in Stellenbosch for their traditional Hindu ceremony. They wanted something simpler and more western for their reception and the hall at Cavalli estate was the perfect blank canvas for this. It was possibly the windiest day in the history of Cape Town which proved to be a challenge for the Hindu ceremony, but a caged burner did the trick and all the traditions could be upheld. It's bittersweet to blog about this wedding now knowing that it was the last wedding we would ever do at “the original” Strandkombuis, since the venue was wrecked by the elements a little while ago. It's also in remembrance of the heart and soul of the venue, Oom Natie, who sadly passed away a few months ago. But…let my nostalgia not distract from the reason for this post: this gorgeous wedding! The couple wanted a rustic, bohemian feast for...

Shelley & Nico: Elandskloof, Greyton

Shelley and Nico fell in love with the picturesque panorama of Elandskloof in Greyton (and we don't blame them)! With spectacular views of the mountains, a bank of weeping willows next to the river and a forest all on one property, what is not to love? The ceremony took place under the shade of the trees, while the guests whiled away the afternoon next to the water, lounging around on pouffes and daybeds and enjoying the view as the sun set. The rustic barn created the perfect backdrop for the reception and the bohemian theme and warm, bright colours filled the space beautifully.  ...
