10 Nov Soft, Neutral and earthy Shoot
In the beginning of the year, Li Edelkoord gave her predictions of the trends for 2014 and among them was what she called gathering, folding and pleating. She explained that textiles, fashion and interior design would use this trend to symbolise the coming together and holding together of people, families and our nation.
When we planned this shoot, together with the creative genius that is CreativeNook, we wanted to bring this specific trend to the foreground and decided to do it in the most natural way possible. Our colour scheme consisted of soft nudes and earthy pastels and we incorporated organic materials such as mushrooms and phyllo pastry into our centrepieces. We layered textures and patterns and created a flowing look, full of folds and pleats.
Our bride’s dress repeated the theme of the table and was set off beautifully by the opulent detail of her floral umbrella.
Clinical precision and clean lines are not always the answer to a beautiful design, sometimes you have to gather ideas, fold them all into one and pleat to create interest and texture.
